Carmilla, Queen of the Night, is a shape-shifting raven whose fictional exploits thrill tween girls all over the world. When Chicago's Carmilla Club holds an initiation ritual in an abandoned cemetery, they stumble on an actual corpse, murdered vampire-style. The girls include daughters of some of Chicago's most powerful families. And for V.I. Warshawski, the questions multiply faster than the answers.

See Paretsky @ LPL Sun Apr 23, 2017! This feminist mystery is wrapped in social justice. A heroic champion against xenophobia & class privilege, plus teen girls obsessed with vampires & ritual magic...#15 in the series, yet each V. I. Warshawski mystery may be read as stand alone.

I thought the book was good. I wasn't too keen on the vampire aspect but she is aiming to be contemporary in her storytelling. This is a fine storyteller and I have read all her books except the non-fiction.

Another great installment in this series. Love this protagonist almost more than all others.

Another good read from Paretsky. However, her other books are better. This one was hard to read at first but then it got more interesting.
