In a time of Rasputin's magic and Romanov mystery, a young girl finds herself at the heart of the royal family. She was an orphan, ushered into the royal palace on the prayers of her majestry. Yet, decades later, her time spent in the embrace of the Romanovs haunts her still. Is she responsible for those murderous events that changed everything? If only she can find the heir, maybe she can put together the broken pieces of her own past-maybe she can hold on to the love she found.

I gave up before the 2nd chapter. This is not the style I like - much to romance fluff. Give me Pasternak, Rutherfurd, Tolstoy for Russian lit. If you like romance novels & inaccuracies this is it.

First off, I'm a sucker for Nicholas II and his family, and have been for a very long time. I enjoyed *The Last Romanov,* including the more mystical elements, despite the fact that the novel veered from the complete horror of the night of the slaughter in Ekaterinburg in July, 1918. Very evocative of a world that has disappeared, of a time that seems very far away--even though it's really not. I gave it less than 5 stars because it's less that 100% accurate, and I was the mom who wouldn't let her kids watch Disney's *Anastasia,* because that poor, lovely girl was brutally murdered; she didn't survive, despite Disney's spin on the then-mystery . . .
