VERY GOOD 1940 film with fine acting by Ginger Rogers and the rest of the talented lineup.
The plot was a bit troublesome for 40's censors since the Ginger character and her impoverished Monterey fishing village family has a history of being 'for pay' girls.
Ginger goes to San Francisco to move up economically, marries a big city man and attempts to hide her family's troubled background.
The film does have a bit of Steinbeckian flavor, is a bit obscure, but is well worth a view - glad I did.
