my daughter enjoyed it. Great book
This is the most assured entry yet: recurring characters in the Unit are more fully realised; secondary characters are colorful; and while still endearingly eccentric, there is less mumbo-jumbo.
I love how intelligent and interesting this author is. By Bryant and May standards, this story is tame and easy on the heart; not scary, not that weird, not tragic or gory (then I recall the hanging victim, the defenestration victim, and another that I can't tell you about, and I realize that by normal standards...) The presence of Punch and Judy puppets is the freakiest thing, too much like clowns if you ask me. The chapters have names such as Scaramouche, Despair, Victoriana, and Automata. Enjoy!
This entry reminds me all over again why I enjoy these books so much. When Fowler’s on his game, he’s very very good. Much better than his previous entry--Bryant & May Off the Rails.
These characters are so damn quirky but not in a funny Evanovich way. Totally fantastic and even better, I can't always figure out whodunit!
