This book provides wonderful insight into the life of the Victorian middle class and the position of women in that society.

What a disappointment--esp. after her Suspicions of Mr. Whicher. Only if you like plowing through law arcana.

The topic is certainly intriguing - a Victorian lady's titillating diary causes her husband to instigate a divorce suit - but the writing doesn't make for the most interesting nonfiction. I'd say go for this one only if you're quite drawn to the history of the nineteenth century or the evolution of law.
