Invaluable commentary on art history of the high renaissance. Numerous paintings from other Renaissance artists make for a course which is very informative. As a preparation for an art tour of Italy - especially Florence - this course is a treasure.

There are 36 lectures on tape which makes it an exhaustive study - perhaps too much detail for some. But if you love da Vinci and and interested in the context of which he lived and worked, you will benefit from this Great Course.

This series is based mostly upon the lecturer's opinion. There's lots of speculation, guesses, hear-say and all kinds of absurd inferences. Not many facts are presented, especially because very little is known about Leonardo da Vinci’s private life—unless one considers rumors and unfounded accusations from his contemporaries and modern detractors. I could not pass the first part of the second DVD. Not a serious study, extremely disappointing and highly prejudiced.
