"Taylor Edwards' family might not be the closest-knit--everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled--but for the most part, they get along just fine. Then Taylor's dad gets devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend one last summer all together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains. Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. And Taylor discovers that the people she thought she had left behind haven't actually gone anywhere. Her former best friend is still around, as is her first boyfriend...and he's much cuter at seventeen than he was at twelve. As the summer progresses and the Edwards become more of a family, they're more aware than ever that they're battling a ticking clock. Sometimes, though, there is just enough time to get a second chance--with family, with friends, and with love"-- Provided by publisher.

I wish books like this one were available when I was a teenager. Taylor and her family are having one last summer holiday together as her father is battling terminal cancer. Taylor hasn't been back to the lake in five years. She left suddenly he last time leaving her two best friends, Charlie and Lucy, hanging.
She now has a lot of work to do regaining their trust and friendship. As Taylor's dad's health deteriorates, Taylor finds herself pushing her friends away again.

Seventeen-year-old Taylor Edwards discovered that her father had cancer. Since her family received this unexpected and sad news, they decide to spend their probable last summer together at their old lake house. However, Taylor had a bad habit of running away when things didn’t necessarily go her way. Like in middle school, she convinces her parents to move to a new location when she broke up with her twelve-year-old boyfriend. Now, five years later, Taylor returns to her lake house and gradually begins recognizing the ambience. She sees her former best friend, but she is way prettier and her ex boyfriend, but he is way better looking now than he was at twelve! Can Taylor amend her old relationships? Will she run away now?
I really enjoyed this book because every character was so interesting, they all had different personalities and roles that made this novel interesting. However, I think the author took quite a long time to get to the point. But all in all, the novel was good and showed that second chances are blessings and should not be taken for granted. 4/5 stars

This is one of the best books i've ever read . It's somehow related to actual life situations. It's about making the best of important things or people you use to take for granted when you realize that it could taken away from you sooner or later. It's all about second chances, loving, forgiving and bravery . It's all about making the best out of the worst. You will laugh and cry while reading this book and at the end you'll just smile just I did . Trust me you will not regret reading this book .

Amazing, spectacular, and magnificent! Truly, this is one of the best summer novels I have read recently, although it is from a while ago. I have actually really liked this author's other novels too, so if you also like this one: go check them out! By my standards it would classify as realistic fiction for teens, with some sorrow, romance, and friendships involved. As the story goes on readers start to understand what really happened that summer long ago, and why sometimes moving on means letting loose the past. The protagonist, a teenager girl going through so much, is absolutely a hundred percent real in her character. After all, no one is really perfect, no? 5/5 stars.

This book was an awesome read. Morgan Matson brings setting and character to life, making you feel like you are right beside Taylor and seeing and feeling what she is going through. I can relate to her, feeling the need to shut down and run away(she runs away physically, I mentally.) My favorite character was Henry. He had put up a lot with her, yet he was still there. I would recommend this book to anyone.

From the Flying Start author of Amy & Roger's Epic Detour, a powerful novel about hope in the face of heartbreak.

“I kept thinking back to all those nights in Connecticut, when I was out the door as soon as dinner was over, yelling my plans behind me as I headed to my car, ready for my real night to begin—my time with my family just something to get through as quickly as possible. And now that I knew that the time we had together was limited, I was holding on to it, trying to stretch it out, all the while wishing I’d appreciated what I’d had earlier.” - Morgan Matson
