This book is utterly engrossing as it takes you deep within the mental processes of its troubled heroine. Combining the elements of a psychological thriller and a haunted house story, “The Unquiet” is as unsettling as its title. The author keeps you guessing as to whether Corinne and her new friends are really being threatened by a spectral presence—or whether she simply needs to adjust her medication. The lines between sanity and insanity blur right up to the climactic denouement, delivering a vicious one-two punch to the reader’s sensibilities. Craziness has never been so terrifying or moving as each passage brings us step by step to the brink of annihilation.

There’s no neat wrap-up here. The heroine’s ultimate fate is left dangling, the ending guaranteed to leave you on edge and questioning your judgment. This is a book to discuss furiously with your friends, your teachers and yourself.

So intense! I had to read it all in one night, and then I couldn't sleep well afterwards. Highly recommended, and be prepared to be creeped out the entire time.
