I loved the ending of this book! This book has some strong female characters who do not fully rely on the characters. It has drama, selfish friends, and the struggle to keep secrets' secret in a place where there is no such things as privacy.
Though the reason I didn't give it a five out of five review is because the main female character grew but she seemed to stagnate about half way through the book, which gave me that itch of annoyance. Otherwise I really liked this book.
When I reviewed "Brazen" by Longshore I said that if you read Philippa Gregory you'll only partly like that book. But for this book I think I can whole heartily recommended this to a Gregory fan, because the ending of this book leaves you with a sense of hope, and potential, whereas, Longshore's "Brazen" I find leaves with the feeling of sense of unease for the character's future.

This was a wonderful historical fiction novel - it really brings you into the time of Henry VIII, and the friendship between Cat and Kitty is very realistic. I never knew much about Catherine Howard but after reading this book I'm definitely intrigued to know more.

The only downfall to Gilt is that the narration tends to focus more on Cat than Kitty (the actual narrator) but everything else was just about perfect.
