"Paul Madvig was a cheerfully corrupt ward-heeler who aspired to something better: the daughter of Senator Ralph Bancroft Henry, the heiress to a dynasty of political purebreds. Did he want her badly enough to commit murder? And if Madvig was innocent, which of his dozens of enemies was doing an awfully good job of framing him?"--Publisher's web site.

Short mystery novella. Just 5 CDs. The story is pretty good, but not great. It is difficult to follow in places, with needlessly complicated relationships between the characters, of which there are too many. Makes it somewhat of a chore for the listener to have to sort through them all. On the plus side, the audio reader does an excellent job. Overall, for 1930's/40's style mystery-noir fans, worth a listen.
