Odd Jobs Gin has taken on a lot of odd work in the past, and when you're a Jack of All Trades agency based in a feudal Japan that's been conquered and colonized by aliens, the term 'Odd Jobs' means REALLY ODD jobs. But when some more than slightly suspicious secrets from the shadows of Gintoki Sakata's somewhat shady former samurai past and a new pair of odd jobs collide, the action is bound to get so wild and demented that only a feature film will do it justice!

Gintama, the movie: The samurai spirit shines in and amongst the darkness of rotten worldly ways. Additionally, within dismal darknesses displayed, comedy hides itself in and amongst the gloomy galaxy's decay, acting as the galaxies' samurai spirit, stowaway. Samurai spirit... once one first gets whiff of it... one will always want more of it! ...I had liked the introductory opening scene that would eventually lead movie into direction of its progressing its plot; this opening scene contained a static image background and accompanied it with witty, comical, and amicable banter; but for me, most of the movie, with its audio and with its video vibe, moved serious by means of its vigorous samurai spirit; albeit there were occasional hijackings filled with whacky hilarity, (some to most, at times, I was mostly unsure of what was possibly meant); however, 40 minutes into said movie, I had noticed the hilarity had diminished and dissipated to almost a null crawl… but with that said, when whereby the movie’s main plot story had finished, the comical, comic book’s zaniness and craziness, began again. I wouldn’t want to assign Gintama, the movie, a rating… this because I never had watched the series; and so, I would become hesitant if I did so; so, regarding its tenacious effort to exist as its seemingly own entity, I feel I would not be able to give and graft gracious, accurate rating; this and thus, due to my lack of understanding and grasping of originating lore and of its lore-related, story material, I find that I cannot evaluate and rate Gintama, the movie, a grade at this time. Even though the intro seemed to try to update novice neophytes, such as myself, the Gintama universe had still felt perhaps and possibly as having too many unknown references to me; so to fully enjoy the experience, I would suppose one, such as I, would want to probably learn more of said such actual manga or anime show series. Maybe I’ll learn more about it from someone else or on my own some other day. I will say Gintama has samurais and there is the samurai spirit involved, (and it equates to having bushido); so that’s always a plus, right? And that’s always a plus in any samurai lover’s book, right? -X; Xandor Who (03-14-14); (later on this date:04-09-14... I went back and thought about Gintama and my thoughts on it; and even if not knowing the anime series or manga, I did like the movie; so… Rating: 4.9/5.0; Xandor Who).
