After a space battle the victor and lone survivor, Raheiran Special Forces captain Gillaine Davré, awakes in a space station medical facility 300 years in the future and the Khalar society she was sent to advise now worship her as a goddess. The Khalar quote her words as sacred text, burn incense to her and invoke her name when christening their space vessels. Even love interest, Admiral Mack Makarian, is faithful to his goddess. All Gillie wants is to be able to drink beer and play pool like a normal cargo hand. How is Gillie to protect the Khalar from an old evil without shattering the important component of their culture (her deification)?
Gillie and Makarian are fully developed. Most supporting characters have a history that supports and is vital to the plot. The bad guys need more development to become fully three-dimensional. The space station itself is not fully developed or described; I became lost and was not sure where the characters were sometimes. It is good science fiction, but the romance component is not well developed.
This is a fun, laugh-out-loud read.
