Seventeen-year-old Leah has always lived in trailer parks near airports her entire life. From having to deal with her mother’s constant disappearances and ever-changing boyfriends, to having to take care of all of their money problems, Leah does not have much to look forward to in life except for her job flying banner airplanes at the nearby airstrip. When Mr.Hall, her boss and the man who taught her everything she knows about flying, dies unexpectedly and leaves the airstrip to his two sons, golden-boy Alec and wild-child Greyson, Leah finds herself caught up in a whirlwind of blackmail, false romance, love triangles and secrets.
Personally, I found myself having mixed feelings about this novel. The concept of the plot was very interesting, and held a lot of potential, but it tended to drag very slowly throughout some points in the story. Also, the characters themselves were not very likable in my opinion. Leah often acted and dressed so stereotypically as “trailer trash”, and I found it hard to sympathize with her for this very reason. As for Leah’s potential love interests, I found Alec’s character to be very shallow and underdeveloped, while Greyson was just plain frustrating due to his inability to make up his mind about anything. Add in Leah’s annoying rich-girl best friend Molly, and the entire cast of the book left a lot to be desired.
Overall, I appreciated the author’s witty style of writing, but ultimately struggled to finish the book. Such a Rush is definitely not one of Jennifer Echols’s best.

18-year-old Leah is blackmailed into working for a failing airplane business, entangled in a family drama between two brothers about her age—one, she likes, and he’s hired her to seduce the other one. Between the blackmail and the fact that she would do anything to fly airplanes (she’s a licensed pilot with few resources), she gets entangled. The story is interesting and the pilot aspect is a very unique twist. However, the romance is disturbing to say the least. (Seriously—she’s going with the guy who blackmailed her?! That’s Emily Brontë worthy, but not well-written enough to make me forgive the author.)

I really liked this book, and Jennifer Echols's other books. I love reading books with a strong, independent female lead, so of course I loved Leah! I also enjoyed that this book is about flying/pilots because I've never read a book about either of those things before, so I enjoyed that it wasn't like all the other books I've read. I also really liked the quote that was something along the lines of how normal people look up, see an airplane, and go back to what they're doing, but people who are meant to be pilots look up, see a plane, and follow it until they can't see it anymore. This has definitely made me consider a career involving flying because I am one of those people who watches the airplane until I can't see it anymore. Overall, I would recommend this to any teenage girl who enjoys a love story with deeper meaning. There is cussing in this book, so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone younger than high school age.

It's not "Forget you" or "Love Story" but it was an alright book.
