A captivating glimpse into the rise and fall of America's first celebrity designer, Halston, the man who was synonymous with fashion in the 1970s, and became the emperor of New York City nightlife. Interviews with friends and witnesses (including Liza Minnelli, Diane Von Furstenberg, Andre Leon Talley, Anjelica Huston, Bob Colacello, and Billy Joel, among others) round out this glittering evocation of the man who defined the most beautiful and decadent era of recent memory.

Sadly, this effort is very unprofessional. The director believes the documentary is about him! Plus, he is the worst interviewer ever. It's so bad, it's embarrassing.

Only one third of the movie is about Halston. This movie is about the 1970s, by the director conning famous people for interviews about Halston. The director has a dixie flag on his car and the dixie song as his ringtone. There is a lot of male nudity and swearing. A much better movie about Halston is the A & E documentary.

Interesting and fun. Captures a lot of the "romance" of the 70's and its decadence. Halston certainly knew about the decadent side. This search gives us the incredible, heady rise of Roy Halston, as well as his horrendous public fall. Too much cocaine and hubris. Question: how does a boy from Indiana come by that peculiar accent? More alarming, what does an infected gay man need with a Rolls Royce? Why didn't his "best friend" Liza Minelli know he was sick? My other complaint is that at times it is hard to discern who this documentary is about: Halston, or the director, who inserts himself into every scene he can.
