This book is going along only "ok" but then really falls apart in the last 50 pages or so. The last 50 pages are essentially a repetition of the words "OK", "sorry" and "cry/crying".

This is Where I Leave You is light years better. It also turns corny at the end, but not nearly with the severity or length that "One Last Thing" does.

Not recommended.

Absolutely loved the book, the character and the story, and I also enjoyed the ending. I want to read more novels by this author!

Jonathan Tropper's follow up to his excellent novel "This Is Where I Leave You" follows the same pattern: family dysfunction, screwed up, but likable character and a mix of the heartfelt and the comic. While on the surface, he's treading on well-trod ground (comically messed up families, sad bastard males, Jews), he brings more warmth, humor and nuance to the material than most of his peers. I like "Leave You" a little better, but I also read it first. Maybe my favorite of the Jonathan (Franzen, Lethem, Safron Foer) writers.

A truely wonderful story of friends, family, love and death all told in a laughting, while you're shedding a tear for all these poor mixed up people. Highly recommended.

Tropper is true-to-form in this humorous, heart-warming novel filled with crazy family relationships, bizarre friendships and health struggles. The characters are entrancing in spite of their strange behaviour and you will root for them care for them and feel you have come to know them very well. Highly recommended when you need a quick, funny, light-hearted read.

Checked this out for my husband and he loved it. He talked me into reading it and it was very very good BUT the ending leaves you hanging...

The best of Tropper. So funny that I laughed aloud every few pages.

There is much of what life is about: family, loneliness, love, hate, marriage, death, and more; a lots of laughter and some tears. Very good read.
