After 25 years in prison, Foley is finished with the grifter's life. When he meets an elusive young woman named Iris, the possibility of a new start looks real. But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan, the son of his former partner, has come up with an ingenious plan for a score and he wants Foley in. The harder Foley tries to escape his past, the tighter he is ensnared in Ethan's web of secrets, until it becomes all too clear to Foley that some wrongs can never be made right.

A con story where the lead, Samuel L. Jackson, has no interest in partaking, but, you guessed it, he has to. Not a very twisty con, and pretty run of the mill with some interesting plot twists. I enjoyed it, wasn't bored, but would not watch again.

Mediocre. I only watched because Raina from Agents of Shield was in it.

Luke Kirby was one scary character and saved the movie from ordinary. Plot was okay but the ending was sophomoric and forced in mho.

Its OK. Good story. Acting is solid except for a few characters. Drags a bit in the middle

Not one of Samuel's better movie. They could have chosen a better lead actress.

Good – The Samaritan (2012) 90 min. Samuel L. Jackson stars as an ex-con and ex-grifter who is manipulated into one last con. The film was shot in Toronto with a supposed low budget – it shows. But the plot is interesting and never too complicated to follow (as some con films try to be). Ruth Negga plays the love interest. She starred in the British television show The Misfits. The film will be remembered for its shocking chain of events.
