One of the funniest movies of all time both witty and situational.
If you love this writer and director team as I do, check out an earlier movie of theirs, Cactus Flower which is marvelous too. Enjoy!

Very good, funny, entertaining movie with 3 top stars: Marylin Monroe, Tony Curtis (the American Prince) and Jack Lemmon. Nothing to do with any Trans-Odd-Queer stuff, just entertainment, and a good one.

When it comes to Hollywood movies about male sexual orientation and (cringe) cross-dressing - I'm sure glad to say that 1959's "Some Like It Hot" wasn't one where the men "crossing over" ever believed themselves to be really women trapped inside a man's body.

(Phew! That was a close call!)

And when it came to all of this deliberate gender deception with musicians, Joe and Jerry - I thought that Jack Lemmon (with hilarious confidence) clearly understood his "Daphne" character so much more completely than did Tony Curtis with his "Josephine".

Of course - Having the voluptuous Marilyn Monroe (as Sugar Cane Kowalczyk) in this picture certainly did help to keep the charge of testosterone always crackling sharply just like a bolt of flash-lightning that never fails to strike in precisely the same place twice.

Anyway - I'd say that this film's humorous ending between Daphne (Lemmon) and Osgood Fielding III (Brown) was a priceless touch of well-timed genius (thanks to director, Billy Wilder).

Directed by Billy Wilder in 1959 based on a screenplay by Billy Wilder and Michael Logan from the French film "Fanfare of Love", this American romantic comedy shows the escape attempt of two musicians who dress in drag in order to escape from mafia gangsters whom they witnessed commit a crime inspired by the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre.
It appears foolishly hilarious.
I'm pretty sure you would laugh your head off to death.
Definitely one of the greatest comedies and the best crossdressing flicks of all time.

One of the best comedy movies out there! This movie ranks along with another very funny Marilyn Monroe film, the 1955, Seven Year Itch, with Tom Ewell. Marilyn is often overlooked for her comedic timing and acting skills.

A very funny screwball type of comedy. Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon give very goof performances. But the scene still award would've had to go to Joe E Brown for his role as Osgood Fielding III who gave one of the best lines ever " Well Nobody's Perfect "

VERY GOOD 1959 romantic musical comedy. Fun to see Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon playing ladies in an all woman band. And Marilyn Monroe does a good job acting, etc.

The best film ever!
Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe - THE BEST

(Favourite movie quote) - "Well, nobody's perfect!"

Released in 1959 - Some Like It Hot is a classic, "Screwball" comedy that was masterfully directed by legendary film-maker, Billy Wilder.

This wild and wacky film tells the tale of two ragtime, jazz musicians who inadvertently witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. In order to elude their pursuers they disguise themselves as women and join an all-girl band heading for Miami.

Enjoyable performances by all, especially from the always hot Marilyn Monroe, as Sugar Kane.

Some Like It Hot has an offbeat script that somehow works through the movie. How this is done is hard to know given the odd subplots. Two down and out musicians witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and are on the run from the Mob. In order to get out town quickly Jerry (Geraldine) and Joe (Josephine) cross-dress into an all female band headed to Miami that features Marilyn Monroe as the lead singer. Curtis falls for Monroe and tries to woo her posing as a rich playboy while Lemmon does have an aging playboy that pursues him in his female personality. Then the mob shows up at the resort where they are playing. Despite being filmed in black and white (1959 release date) this film does deserve the title "Classic" because after seeing it multiple times there is still a sense of wonder that the actors and director keep a narrative light and funny that in other hands could have been disasterous.
