What a lovely movie. Nothing like the traditional nutcracker, but the storyline was wonderful about a family whose husband/father is a POW in WWII, and how his abscence affects the family, especially during Christmas. it was really nicely done. I highly recommend it for ages 10 to adult.

my 11 and 13 year old granddaughters gave this a thumbs down - it wasn't like the ballet they were expecting - but their mother and I enjoyed it very much. I'll keep this in my Christmas movie rotation. I love the Drosselmeyer character.

I like the storyline. The viewer is led by a little girl who missed her father so much to experience a miracle at Christmas Eve. It features the soaring music of Tchaikovsky and exquisite dance to create Clara's wondrous dream world. A quite different version of Nutcracker. I recommend it!!!
