This book is poorly titled. It's an incredibly detailed account of Bruce's creative and recording processes.
To truly enjoy this book you should be very knowledgeable about Bruce's catalogue of songs.

Fans of Bruce Springsteen have been treated to several books about The Boss recently (Bruce, by Peter Ames Carlin, was a straightforward biography, while Marc Dolan's Bruce Springsteen and the Promise of Rock 'n' Roll zeroed in on the musical and political influences on his work). E Street Shuffle, on the other hand, offers not only a Springsteen biography but a discussion of his music and a portrait of the famous E Street Band - and in the process allows its thorough and opinionated author, Clinton Heylin, to provoke controversy by covering clashes among his subjects and slaughtering what some fans may consider to be sacred cows.
