I initially thought Frat Chef was an oxymoron.
Boy, author have it tougher than typical restaurant. She slaved 14 hours 6 days usually by herself feeding 50 to 80 people at University of Washington fraternity. She was a hard case for status quo food suppliers.
Laughed at "Asian Surprise" by her predecessor.
Chuckled at her wanting to quit on questionable kitchen ,but realized where else one get good pay & total control of the menu.
Fraternity not quite the nerds or the jocks portrayed in say Revenge of the Nerd Movie.
She must have have done something right if neighbouring sorority mooched or raided her food.

A great recommendation from a fellow librarian. I loved this entire book, from the funny stories to the poignant moments. One of my favorite foodie memoirs.

I'm not sure what made me check this book out, since I only cook (grudgingly) because it's part of my job-description as 'Mom', but I'm really glad I did. The author's witty, honest reflections on herself and her own short-comings while working (*note*: slaving in the kitchen) as chef in a Seattle fraternity house make for a really solid read. And she included some recipes as well. Bonus!
