Good movie...BUUUUUT such a slow start!!!

I can't put my finger on it but there's something that makes this movie not quite as entertaining as the first one. Maybe it's the fact that it tries to pull you into the lore without taking the time to make you care about the characters.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

The movie brought back memories of the Silent Hill game. The game was great but the movie was not. I almost fell asleep watching it.

If you are a Silent Hill gamer you will get the gist of the timeline of the movie (I read the Wikipedia page) if not the story is inevitable will confuse you. It's a continuation of the first move they took the other parts of one they left out of the first one and gave it to you here. Well it's effective creepiness are quite bothersome and there are some scenes that will leave you queasy. The story is lost in gore and flash, the actors are all comatose, from trying to deliver a dead plot (no pun intended) nothing is thoroughly explained unless (again) you have played the game.

I remember being so elated that there was going to be a movie made of the Silent Hill games and I thought the first one was absolutely incredible. Of course it had special effects, but much of the set and even the monsters were all modeled by hand. The movie was artistic, beautiful, and the acting was fantastic. Unfortunately, this one was nowhere near as good. the acting was very campy, the effects were somewhere in the middle, and they did a less than stellar job of explaining the story line. The only reason I knew what was going was because I played through all the games and the idea of Silent Hill makes better sense to me because of it. This being said, I was still able to watch the whole thing and it wasn't *horrible*. Just disappointing.

The effects in this movie were top notch. The creature effects and the settings were creepy and just dripped Silent Hill. The story was all over the place and the acting was ho hum. Looked great. That is the draw here. Don't expect to be scared, but I was entertained.
