The Bling Ring is among some of my favourite movies of all time. It’s based on the true story of the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch, a group of teenagers, who, in 2008 and 2009, robbed from celebrities’ homes. The real story itself is immensely twisted and interesting and the movie captures the essence of the real thing perfectly. The characters reflect on the real teenage population today, by rebelling against what their parents want them to do and instead doing illegal activities in which they brag about to their friends later on in order to gain some sort of credit. The way they look, think, and act mirrors real teenagers today, but the way they act so impulsively on it makes the movie all the more thrilling and exciting. It had me on the edge of my seat because one question lingers the whole time: “Will they get caught?” Which was a suspenseful feeling. The characters are so focused on fame and fortune, and although most characters come off as ‘bratty’, it adds to the whole mood of the story. This movie is perfect for anyone who loves glamour and pop culture, as that is an obsession many of the characters have. They recklessly move from home to home, stealing millions of dollars worth of things, and yet still manage to live the life of an average student come daylight. The way they, as a group, live this double life as an investigation rises against them, is very interesting. The plot itself is easy to follow and flows very smoothly throughout the whole film. You can see really see how the characters develop and how they push their limits more and more after every heist. All in all, it’s extremely suspenseful and thrilling and each portrayal of each character is near perfect. I would rate this movie a 5/5 stars.

A group of entitled kids taking something that doesn't belong to them. The movie was okay.

The proper context in which to view BLING RING is the teenage exploitation film. Think BLACKBOARD JUNGLE or RIOT ON SUNSET STRIP. Youth in all its anti-social amoral hedonism. Those of us out in audienceland can cluck our tongues and wag our heads as the girls snort pilfered coke, steal designer clothes from Hollywood stars and then shake their booties on the dance floor. Emma Watson's portrayal of the home-schooled New Age Great White Shark is worthy of the praise it has garnered.

I don't think I like Sofia Coppola films all that much. Other than THE VIRGIN SUICIDES, I am always left disappointed. THE BLING RING is no exception. It's certainly not the worst film she's made, but it lacks any true feeling. Everything feels fabricated, which isn't what you want when you're trying to suspend the audience's disbelief. The only real performance comes from Emma Watson, who has proven herself an extraordinarily versatile talent. Other than that, though, THE BLING RING feels empty and I can't recommend it.

Not as bad as the rating here - not a ton of plot, but was based on actual events of dumb kids.

Everything about this movie was completely insufferable.

I don't know why I expected a plot, depth, and three-dimensional characters.

To me, The Bling Ring is the sort of "crime-does-then-doesn't-pay" movie that is best enjoyed with a Big Mac, a Coke and fries. Yeah. This film's junk-food mentality, mixed with a good dose of junk food, is the perfect movie-going combination.

I certainly got my biggest laugh from this movie when the vain, greedy, fearless, little Bling-Ring kids finally got caught with the goods and (in the typical fashion of true cowards) broke down crying for their mommies.

Ha! So, in the very end these big, brave, two-faced, label-conscious thieves turned out to be nothing but a bunch of snivelling sucks.

If this film is really based on actual events (and I'm led to believe it is), then it certainly makes the celebrities whose houses were robbed look utterly stupid for being so lax about not having the doors and windows of their multi-million-dollar homes alarmed for security.

Like, Hello!!?? - In this day and age, are these stars really that out of touch with the realities of the real world?

I mean, when it came to the Bling Ringers, we're definitely not talking about master criminals here.

No. What we are talking about is a group of shallow, empty-headed, coke-sniffing teens who, literally, waltzed in through the front door of Paris Hilton's mansion and cleaned her out without a single care in the world, even lingering around and leaving tell-tale fingerprints, here, there, and everywhere.

(Sheesh! Unbelievable!)

Regardless of its glaring flaws and blatant inadequacies, I thought The Bling Ring, and all of its cheek & mockery, was quite a revealing statement about today's celebrity-obsessed youth culture which prevails all across the American frontier and beyond.

This movie is an amazing retelling of the burglary accounts/incidents that affected several of Hollywood's/Pop culture's most known and beloved celebrities. Emma Watson does an amazing job taking on the role of a conceited, overzealous, self entitled young adult committing heinous acts, larceny, and other illicit activity.
