This is a wonderful collection of major works by Maurice Sendak. The essays added depth and background to his art. I was slightly disappointed that I didn't find anything in this book about the sets he designed for "The Nutcracker" productions in Seattle, at the theatre in/near the Seattle Center. I went to one of the productions specifically to see these sets; they are fabulous! This is a big and heavy book, full of illustrations that show the progression of his work from line drawings to drafts to full-colour final versions. It's a must-read/look at for fans of Maurice Sendak.
