This book helps bring the Voting Rights struggle in the 1950s to life. The stories of personal experience, as well as the historical descriptions, have a pertinence in today's world -- how we too might oppose oppression and aggression through purposeful nonviolence. Study with Bernard Lafayette in person, and it's even better. He challenges us to become better people as well as more effective activists for what we believe in.
