Jane Hayes's adoration of all things Jane Austen is complicating her love life. Determined to be the heroine of her own story, Jane spends her life savings on a trip to Austenland, an eccentric Austen-inspired resort, where she meets two very different gentlemen, but has a difficult time determining where fantasy ends and real life, and maybe even love, begins.

Cute movie. Loved JJ Field as the Mr. D'Arcy character.

I liked this movie, the make believe life made the character wake up and look for something real. We all want meaning and purpose in our lives and this character is put on a good track toward a happy ever after.

holy #*!@$! that was bad. I watched part of this for a church activity (we were bored) and I don't mind rom coms, but this one made me realize how low the bar can be set. This would have been hilarious as a spoof movie, but I felt my masculinity slipping away with every painful minute. The comedian from Legally Blonde was NOT funny, so one dimensional, as well as the rest of the cast. They all felt bored, unsure, and awkward. Nothing established about them other than they are there, and obnoxious in how serious the main lead takes it. She is WAY TO obsessed with Austen to the point she needs professional help. I was contemplating checking out the films/miniseries based on Austen's works, but now I think I'll stick with King, Cussler, and Christie. Next time we chose to watch a film for an activity, I'll make sure to bring some alternative options. Like The Terminator.

I didn't know there was a book - I bet it was better. This movie is just a cute - watch it in the background while doing something else movie. The premise is adorable and at the end you feel good about what happened during the course of it. A perfect movie to check out from the library - so that you don't have to pay for it.

Cute! I enjoyed the book originally.

A contemporary retelling of Pride and Prejudice based loosely on the book Austenland. The movie brings to book to life, but with extra visual comedy tossed in. Try counting the taxidermied animals.

I am a Janeite and if you are coming at it from that angle, let me just warn you, you will be disappointed. Approach this movie with an open mind. Expect a modern romantic comedy, not a period drama. The book was way better than the movie. The movie is pretty cheesy and weird in some parts. Funny, however.

I loved this film. I am not at all familiar with Jane Austen. I have not read her books at all- but after seeing this film I plan to! This is a comedy... Romantic comedy, situational comedy, physical humor, linguistic humor. I loved the story line. I want to buy this film for my own collection. And I am super picky about what I buy for dvds.

Keri Russell is spot-on perfect for this role. If you're not very familiar with (or a fan of) the works of Jane Austen, you might find this a bit air-headed, but I adore this movie.

[During a game of croquet, Mr. Nobley and Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile get into an argument.]

Mr. Henry Nobley: "Perhaps I don't find the conversation of women to be...stimulating."

[Nobley takes a shot]

Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile: "Oh, I can't imagine why you're still single."

Mr. Henry Nobley: "I don't see a ring on your finger."

Captain George East: [objects] "Nobley!"

Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile: [to Capt. East] "No. No. It's alright. I...I asked for it."

Ms. Jane Hayes/Erstwhile: [to Mr. Nobley] "I'm single because apparently the ONLY good men are fictional."

Colonel Andrews: "Touche'."

Mr. Henry Nobley: "Oh. You think there's any good women out there? [huffs] No. No. No. They profess honesty and fidelity...and while you're away lecturing in Switzerland, they run off to Brazil with your mate."

Ms. Elizabeth Charming: [yells at Nobley] "Get on with the game you old windbag!"

[Nobley takes another forceful shot]

Mr. Henry Nobley: [to Jane] "Any father would be delighted to have a ninja as a daughter."
