Penny is less than pleased when she is stuck spending her Christmas without her friends and family and instead alone in a creepy and cold inn called the Black Butterfly. This is the result of her uncommitted mother who is currently hunting down ghosts and that is the reason Penny doesn’t believe in the supernatural, family bonds or love. She stands true to this opinion until she meets George whom she falls for almost immediately. However he has secrets, some of which includes this spirit he doesn’t believe exists but is actually very much real and very much trying to kill Penny. Now it’s a race against the clock to not only salvage her final hope for love but her life and sanity while she’s at it. This is a quick, easy and pleasing read that once you start, you can’t put down. Although Penny was an average character that annoyed me at times, George is really enjoyable to read about. The relationship between the two is really nice it just felt a little superficial given they barely knew each other and instantly fell in love. Everything was fast-paced in this novel making reading it all a breeze. Although this book missed the nail when trying to make it scary, it is still a good read that is perfect for the winter season.
