i like this one because its.....well its hard to explain but you feel it right?
“Becoming fearless isn't the point. That's impossible. It's learning how to control your fear, and how to be free from it.”
Opening narrative:
Tris: We're lucky to be in the city. They say the war was terrible, that the rest of the world was destroyed. Our founders built the wall to keep us safe, and they divided us into five groups, factions, to keep the peace. The smart ones, the ones who value knowledge and logic, are in Erudite. They know everything. Amity farm the land. They're all about kindness and harmony, always happy. Candor value honesty and order. They tell the truth, even when you wish they wouldn't. And then there's Dauntless. They're our protectors, our soldiers, our police. I always thought they were amazing. Brave, fearless and free. Some people think Dauntless are crazy, when they kind of are.
Tori: You're different. You don't fit into a category. They can't control you. They call it Divergent.
WILL (to Tris): Statistically speaking, you should have hit the target once by now -- even by accident."

Comment
Add a CommentI liked this DVD and the whole series. It is too violent and sexual for kids to watch. In a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues, Tris Prior is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy by a faction leader to destroy all Divergents, Tris must learn to trust in the mysterious Four and together they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.
I think overall, this was a very good movie. I think that it was kept very accurate to the book, even though they left out rime minor details. One such detail was a conversation with tris and Al.It shiwee more to their friendship than the one conversation, and in that conversation Tris is yelling get away and to never talk to her again, which causes Al to do something that is very drastic. And another scene in which we to see a little into Christina's fear off bugs a little more than again, one conversation in the movie. Peter is a jerk in both the movie and the book, which must have been hard for tte actors to keep roles straight, because the girl who plays tris and the actor who plays peter played in another movie that was filming at the same time, and they play a couple in that movie..
From a world-building standpoint, the premise makes absolutely no sense. As an adaptation, it's not the best. It's just a average YA dystopian, nothing too special.
The casting, especially for Tris and Four, I don't think were good choices. Shailene looks like nothing like the Tris described in the book. I felt like her performance lacked Tris' fierceness. Theo James is supposed to pass as a eighteen year old, but I don't really buy it. I also don't really see their chemistry.
If you're a fan of average YA dystopian, you may enjoy this.
This was the closest movie adaptation of any book I have ever seen. That absolutely amazed me. The only reason I gave it only four stars was because, like the book, it was violent, and that was harder to take in the movie version. If you loved the book Divergent, I encourage you to check this out!
Wow, another semi-letdown. Why they would cast Shailene Woodley as lead i do not know as a almost career b-actor. I guess she's affordable. Sorry i have nothing good to say about this series except they at least didn't skimp on the cg effects.
I give this movie a three out of five because I felt as though it didn't show the whole book. There were some parts of the book that I wanted to see in the movie but didn't see, it made me upset. I know that a movie based on a book isn't supposed to show all of the parts. The movie didn't grab my attention as much as the book did. On the contrary, I think the movie did a good job of choosing its actors, Shailene Woodley did a good job playing Tris. Theo James also did a good job acting as Four. One thing that I was amazed by was the dauntless place, it seemed like the book said and it showed off the amazing underground place. As though the storyline seems the same they do change a few things up like the fact when Tris goes into a simulation it is very different, there are many things that the movie changed from the book. There are some common things about it like the main storyline I just wish the would have never switched it up and made it into something else. Although I didn't like somethings I still rate this book a 3 out of five for still keeping the main storyline, the actors are amazing at what they do. I highly suggest that you read the book before you read the book.

I loved this movie and the casting! I recommend!
Enjoyed the book and enjoyed the movie,
Good, but I just can't stand Shalene Woodley
A dystopian movie similar to The Hunger Games. It focusses mostly on Beatrice trying her hardest to succeed in her chosen faction, while discovering that the system has to end.
