A great read but I do wonder if there has been anything lost in translation. It reads in a stilted stumbling, at times ,way and I heard recently that a good translation will read in such a way as that one will not know it is translated. Though don't let this put you off. Once you find a rhythm it can be enjoyable and a really interesting premise of a man looking back on an incident as a teenager that left a boy badly injured and how it has affected each of the lives of the boys involved.

"A schoolboy prank goes horribly wrong and a boy is injured. Years later one of his schoolmates relives the story. The author is Brazilian and this novel has been highly praised."
