excellent overview of Brazil's economic history, with a focus on post dictatorships developments. Great introduction for someone somewhat novice to Brazil but interested in the economic potential of this perennially arriving nation. very readable, strong analysis though tilted towards "The economist" style free market bromides

I'm sure, since the author works for The Economist, he mentioned Operation Brother Sam and Brazil during the Lyndon B. Johnson Administration? Just kidding, of course he didn't.

Reid has digested a vast range of information. Very readable and authoritative.
