Short but very effective story. It deals with the inexplicable in a way that’s accessible to all ages. The story and art are simple enough but take nothing away from the impact. Highly recommend!

Vibrant, touching, heartbreaking. This sweet junior graphic novel packs a punch. Dounia Cohen opens up to her granddaughter recalling her story of survival as a young girl in France during the Holocaust. Definitely a welcome addition to the literature that continues to educate readers young and old about what happened to everyday people. Hidden manages to show both the dark and light. The terror, sadness, and fear, but also the beauty and generosity of neighbors and strangers. One of the most powerful parts is in the end where it is quietly revealed how complex and difficult it is for Dounia, our survivor and heroine, to talk about her story

Don't let the fact that this is a "children's graphic novel" fool you--this is a powerful book that provides an impactful and touching depiction of what it was like to live through one of the most terrible events in human history. It has the ability to affect children and adults alike, and is a nice supplement to the core literature on the subject that is often presented to students. Superb artwork rounds out the package.

A Grandmother shares her experience during the Holocaust, making this book a nice introduction to an ugly time for kids.

Cute Holocaust book with a happy ending, even with all the sad stuff.
