I absolutely LOVE this series. It's the standard I hold all urban fantasy/paranormal romance novels up to. It has a compelling heroine, outstanding world-building, multi-faceted characters you will grow to love/hate and is overall a solid series. It has more depth and complexity than most books in this crossover genre of UF/PNR. Darkfever starts a little slowly but with each book in the series you get drawn into an enchanting world and omg, just wait until you meet Jericho Barrons. He's one of my favorite alpha males of all time. So yes, the story is amazing, however the vocal talent here does not impress until the new narrators take over in the fourth book, Dreamfever and continues with Shadowfever (and hopefully every book ever after). Natalie Ross & especially Phil Gigante (with his super sexy voice) bring the story to vivid life. A for effort for Joyce Bean who narrated the first three books but it never quite fit for me. Whether you read the first three books in the series or listen (or both), whatever you do YOU MUST not miss book four, Dreamfever, and the books beyond in Audiobook form.
