Give it a generous 4 star rating for its originality being an Iranian Vampire Western combo. The film maker found Taft near Bakersfield for film location; the city web site banner is -- Taft, CA: Oil-The Life of Taft. You know it is good when you can follow most of the story with captions turned off, thanks to the simple script, exotic sound track music and beautiful B&W camera work. Watch end credit music video "Yarom Bia", Come My Sweetheart in "Videos."

Overhyped- boring hipster film- quite amateurish actually-you should avoid this film like the plague. It just goes to show how much true artistry went into " Eraserhead "- a film the director is lamely and unsuccessfully trying to evoke in this lamefest.
If you want to watch an artful Iranian film watch something by the great Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami ( Taste of Cherry, Like Someone in Love, Certified Copy etc. ).

Really poor effort- dull, plodding, and laughable in the extreme. Consider yourself forewarned as there are those reviewing this flic that have an axe to grind- there's no other reason for such an awful film to receive praise of any kind.

A dreamlike film that is a visual and auditory delight. It looks like film noir, sounds like an Iranian homage to the spaghetti western, and features one of the most unique portrayals of vampires I have seen since "Let The Right One In."

Shot in B/W, this Iranian-language film tells a vampire story with a twist. It is a low-budget film, and there is little action. Often you look at a scene with not much happening. However, this is an arthouse piece, and lovers of this kind of films will find it very enjoyable. Subtitles.

"A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night" is called the first Iranian Vampire Western. It is very different, and no it's not an action movie. When I watched it the combination of black and white filming and the the minimal dialogue held me to the screen wondering what would happen next. I also thought the music used to accompany the scenes was well done and maybe even a little Hitchcock like. I liked it.

The love scene in this film is stuck in my head. Fast music and slow movement, shapes and shadows shifting in black and white, love, death, desire, hunger, mix and mingle... watch it!!!

Vampires in film are like rosemary in cooking...a not unwelcome presence (ironically enough), as long as you're ready for the flavor to suffuse the whole dish. In this case it's accomplished brilliantly, among the many other brilliant accomplishments centralized here...from the soundtrack, to the skateboarding scene (thank you VICE), to the bizarre but masterfully rendered S.E. Hinton subtext, & all of it in Farsi...!?! A good vampire movie also re-populates & advances the legend without revisiting all the rote exposition that can create drag on a plot, yet another well-deserved commendation here. I'm a little astonished at the terrible reviews...this director set out to make every scene an art-photo and succeeded beautifully. Put simply there was nothing not wonderful about this film for me, & for the free-ranging narrative & directorial innovations in play throughout, my jaw was in my lap for 100 minutes. Do yourself a favor, ignore the haters, & get on this one. CR

Dearest ladies with families... you care for your households, you care for your children, your husbands. And your husband brings home the money. Congratulations. But be prepared. One day, everything changes. Your husband leaves you, finds himself a new wife. A different woman, a younger woman. Or perhaps. Your husband has a stroke and dies. These things happen.
===
Come on, how old are you?
- Thirty.
Thirty. You're getting old.
===
Don't count the things you've lost. Let's count what's still left.
===
And nothing ever changes. Idiots and rich people are the only ones who think things can change.
===
Where are we?
-Bad City.
Bad City? I live in Bad City. This doesn't look like Bad City. Does it? It's not familiar.
===
If there was a storm coming right now, a big storm, from behind those mountains, would it matter? Would it change anything?
===
Look, your father is a normal man. Gambler, enjoys women. Takes medicine for his pain. You see? Completely normal. All right?
