Does anyone read "real" books anymore? Possibly not but most people still own a plethora of tangible tomes and displaying them can pose a decorating challenge. "Novel Living" does not present crafts to make with upcycled books; rather it gives sound advice on cultivating a collection, creating a beautiful home library and preserving books.

Artist Lisa Occhipinti has no background in bookselling but she gently and knowledgeably walks the reader through the basics of book collecting. She shares resources and tips for starting out and emphasizes collecting for pleasure's sake. Later, she addresses how to store and display books: put lighter, smaller books near the centre of a shelf to prevent bowing; sort by subject, author or colour - whatever makes you happy!

Most interestingly, Occhipinti offers easy to follow instructions on how to care for your fragile or damaged books before wrapping up with home decor ideas that utilize old books. Overall, this gorgeous volume serves as a great resource for people wanting to leap into book collecting and crafting.
