Decent horror movie.

Wanted to like this, but emotionally flat acting detracts a lot from a clever concept: evil that follows you, that only you can see represented in various people, and that can only be transmitted sexually. While there's a lot of meta messages that you can explore here, I found the actors speaking their lines in monotones, uninspiring except when they're banding together to face down the monster and being true friends by believing the heroine when she says she's being stalked by...something. There's an unnecessary pandering when sexual violence occurs with the heroine, who of course winds up in her underwear. Set in Detroit, which adds its own layers of gloominess (abandoned houses) and glimmers of hope.

I don't love horror movies that are filled with gore or jump-scares, but It Follows was filled with ominous foreboding and young people making terrible decisions, which are exactly the kinds of things I watch horror movies for.

In this movie there's a supernatural shapeshifting creature that very slowly follows its victims to steal their lifeforce, but you can pass on victimhood to another person by having sex with them. If that person dies the creature comes back up the chain to follow you. I kind of like the concept better than some of the story choices, but the filmmakers did a great job of building a creeping horror. That the monster is invisible to everyone but the victim makes for a lot of good "yelling at the screen" moments when you're watching.

Good stuff.

Written and directed by David Robert Mitchell in 2014, this 100-minute American supernatural psychological horror film depicts a series of nonsensical and ridiculous situations, but fails to frighten me at all.
It turns out be a total flop and I quit vieweing after half an hour into the movie since I've got more intesting things to do.
It would be a total wast of my time.

It's true- this sucks- a millennial attempt to make a horror flic in the tradition of John Carpenter- but it fails on all fronts. The premise is so stupid there's no chance for any ' suspension of disbelief '- you're just left with a waste of time. Strange that people don't require a coherent story or plot nowadays, but think that " a premise " makes a movie- it doesn't .The characters are cardboard thin and uninteresting- THIS IS A BAD MOVIE- on all levels- don't believe the hype.
So go watch a John Carpenter film instead for the real thing- even one of his minor works like " Prince of Darkness " are far superior to this piece of drek- I'm not sure why it's been recommended by so many people ( dumb I guess )...and it's not a film about rape ( not even on a sub textual level ).

A big problem with many monster movies (and especially with teen horror ones) is the enormous amount of time spent walking, driving, waiting and whatever filler activities the writers can dream up.
This film is no exception.
A flimsy, hazy, illogical premise.
I haven't seen hormonal movie teens more morose than this bunch.

Safe to say this was a different kind of movie not you typical jump out and scare you type horror film .

An idea that sounds cheesy in theory - the monster as sexually transmitted disease - turns out as a genuinely creepy movie with a truly original horror theme.

Terrible horror film with a stupendously stupid premise- it tries to evoke classic Horror films from the 80's like John Carpenter's ' Halloween ' but it's not even in the same league.

This interesting spoof on the classic horror film chronicles the story of carefree teenager Jay who sleeps with her boyfriend for the first time and contracts a sexually transmitted disease. However, this disease is not like the others and is in fact a curse. Jay’s friends think she is just being paranoid until they begin to notice the mysterious stranger as well. Together, they work to end her curse by passing it along. This mystery thriller film was released in 2015 and directed by David Robert MItchell. This movie will leave you frozen in your seat and scared like you have never been scared before.

The movie “It Follows” is about a young girl who “contracts” a demon after having sexual relations with a boy who was previously “infected”, or was being haunted, by the demon. Essentially, if you engage in sexual intercourse with a person who is being haunted by the demon, then the demon begins to follow you. You can also pass it on in that way. The movie has a fair bit of suspense and some jump scares. It is quite thrilling. I initially thought this movie was almost like an allusion to STD’s and the repercussions; however, although it is easy to think that this literary device is being used in this way, some say this is not true. It is a quite gruesome movie, with the intro being pretty disturbing. 3/5

Hugh: Okay, even thought it is following you I can still see it. It is not done with me either. Okay, like I told you, all you can do is pass it on to someone else.

Kelly Height: What the fuck are you talking about?

Hugh: She can do the same thing I did. It should be easier for her, she is a girl. Any guy would be with you. Just sleep with someone else and tell him to do the same thing. Maybe it will never come back.
