A brutal and bizarre novel that will challenge your sensibilities, subvert your expectations, and ultimately make a bit of sense. If you've got a taste for the weird and can stomach the language and violence cranked to 11 for the whole ride, this might suit you. There's nothing quite like it so 10 points for originality.

This was the craziest adventure that I have ever been on. This story is violent and gruesome and yet at times laugh out loud funny. I recommended it to a few like minded friends and they all enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the most memorable books that I have ever read!

The book creates its own mythology and deeper hidden world under our own that is unique and surprises. (analogous world building might be Amber , Umber, Lovecraft, etc.) I really enjoyed the lions.

Was completely confused the first 75 pages of the book not understanding "The Library" then an encounter happened between Steve and Carolyn which was somewhat easy to follow as Steve had nothing to do with "The Library". The book eventually came together as you were able to get more of the back stories and understanding of Father's universe. However, the book would have been more enjoyable with a better understanding of Carolyn's mission from the beginning. The plot and characters were mostly "dark" but unique and had interesting twists and ending but could not become emotionally engaged with anyone or follow the overall purpose/goal of what was happening most of the read while constantly revisiting the book's description.

One of the best books I’ve read in some time. A bit like American Gods, but more brutal. A well told tale from start to finish.

Imagine if Joe Hill wrote a book for Neil Gaiman. Magic, language, a lot of violence, but an intriguing storyline to pull it along. You won't believe this one is written by a guy who's usual fare is Linux manuals.

One of the most creative pan-genre genre novels I’ve read in a long while. Probably appealing to fans of China Mieville and other weird fiction authors. Not perfect, but a pretty fine read.

Super weird and awesome! This one is for fans of titles like Welcome to Nightvale. This will be loved by the right reader, but not by everyone!

This book kept me guessing, and I never had any clue what was going to happen next. It was outstanding, weird fiction with a satisfying conclusion. One of my favorites! I would recommend it to those who enjoy dark fantasy or even Lovecraftian novels.

"What we perceive as emotion is just a quick connection between three-dimensional space and one of the higher physical planes - rage, joy, pleasure, whatever. The repercussions can echo for years, but the actual link usually only lasts for a fraction of a second."
