Dramatic-comedy series set in contemporary small-town New Zealand. The best comparison to an American TV series is probably the 1960's series "My Three Sons", although not nearly as corny. The plots involve a recently widowed 40's something upper-middle class professional father and his teenagers, a son and daughter, and the family's adjustment to their loss. This series presents more modern themes however, and is a little more PG-rated than G -- they have a lot of adjusting to do, with the teenage daughter having a particularly difficult time. Good, competent acting for the most part, with a mix of humorous and dramatic situations for the characters to deal with. Good choice for family viewing, with realistic modern-day-family joys and challenges in every 45 minute episode. A bonus: Awesome cinematography of the New Zealand landscape. Recommended.

Jovial, warm-hearted humour with some tears to balance the laughs.
Thankfully, the minor disasters of new fish in a strange pond were kept to a minimum,
to focus on the goings-on of an eccentric but endearing cast of characters.

Really good start for this series. Some drama but on the light side. Enjoyable and entertaining!
