"Yeah,” said Ron, “and lucky Harry doesn’t lose his head in a crisis — ‘there’s no wood,’ honestly."
"The truth." Dumbledore sighed. "It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution."

this book is good I love this book
I'm from Canada, so I'm used to reading the original version and its neat to hear how they changed it in the American version. However it's surprising to hear some words they didn't change, which are so clearly British. The reader does wonderful character voices. I love that he uses a Scottish accent for Professor McGonagall and the sorting hat. I also love that he sang the school song. A very enjoyable "read."
Book 1
haven't listened to any of the hp audiobooks yet, but taking this one out first for my sister
it's beyond me why it's so hard to find a non-downloadable audiobook with stephen fry narrating-so unfair
oh well
I felt like I must have been about the last person on earth to not have read this book. I was staying away because I'm not a big fan of fantasy but I thoroughly enjoyed the story read by Jim Dale. Will definitely continue with the series.
This is a must listen to for anyone who loves a well read story. You will be begging Stephen Fry to narrate your life after hearing just the first few paragraphs.
I'm a baby of the 90's, so I grew up within this magical world and I consider these characters my oldest friends. This is the first time I've listened to the audiobook, and Jim Dale's narration is just as fantastic as everyone says. This is a great format to re-read the books in or experience them for the first time!
If you want to revisit the Harry Potter series this is a great start via audiobook.

Jim Dale creates a superb narration for this magnificent series.
The Sorcerer’s Stone is the first in this seven-part saga,
the first British fantasy novel ever to compare with Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings.
This series has single-handedly restored the value of reading
to an entire generation of young people,
for which the author has been quite properly awarded both
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire
and The Order of the Companions of Honour.
And speaking of things British,
the UK audiobook is read by Stephen Fry
and is equally as engaging and entertaining as Jim Dale’s version.
Highly recommended.
