My first by this author, was very engaging I will definitely be reading her first book 'Hearse And Buggy'. Assaulted Pretzel was a very good mystery, that had me guessing until the end.The characters are wonderful and very well developed. The details of town's setting is so well done that you want to visit. The only fault I have with this book is there is no way that Jakob an Amish man would not have known very well what the consequences of his leaving the Amish after baptism would be,so it really annoyed me that so much of the story focused on his pain over being shunned and the pain he caused his family.Come on any Amish knows that is the price they will pay. If such a big deal had not been made of that, and been such a huge side story, and why on earth come back to the same town after living in NY,anyway, yeah THAT made sense! I would have glady given this 5-stars if not for Jakob's story, and the part about the going nowhere attraction between Claire and Benjamin could have been left out,as well! Mystery lovers would surely enjoy this different setting, but avid Amish fiction readers like me will be bothered by the same issues that I am,I think. Give it a try,and her first book too.
