I read this book when I was twelve and just reread it now at sixteen. It’s still great! When I was younger, this book defenitely thought me a good lesson, debunking the good=pretty and evil=ugly stereotypes. Reading the story now, I almost got the impression that Agatha and Sophie were in love with each other in a more than friendship way?... Agatha definitely proves that she doesn’t need a prince to take care of her even though she still has her own little love story. But the way she thinks and her insistance on saving Sophie lead me to think that she might be gay. From how the other books go I can tell that this isn’t the way the story was supposed to be interpreted but it is a bit confusing if you’re open minded and end up seeing the characters in that way...
