As a huge fan of books with morally ambiguous main characters, I really liked this one. Without giving too much away, a group of unrelated orphans raised in secret by a man they call "Father" are locked out of the hidden library they were raised in. Someone has done something that prevents them from returning, and whats more, they can't contact "Father" and believe he may be dead. Which is perplexing to them because, as far as they can tell, "Father" was invincible and nearly omnipotent. The book begins with a dark tone that leads the reader to question everything that's happening. "Is Father dead, hiding, or something worst?", "Why did each librarian have to stick to a separate catalog?", "Was Father actually what they thought he was?" and "What's with that Steve character?" And that's just the beginning. This book is unlike anything else I've ever read. It has elements of Fantasy, Mystery, Comedy, Science Fiction, and even Horror. I strongly recommend it.
