Like a heartfelt reunion with your dearest lost loved ones, this is a satisfying long-awaited resolution to the series that ties up threads that were suddenly left hanging 13 years ago. It's both beautiful and brutal, concluding with a bittersweet finale lantern-lit to a caramel glow, like a snow globe scene of a bygone era come to life. The writer and creator has hidden in Deadwood a Shakespearean tale of human passions and fates set in the outlaw wild west. You may want to use subtitles to follow the remarkable dialogue. With respect to the "so-so reviews" referred to by one of the other 2 comments at this time: a simple Google search shows a consistent parade of accolades starting off with a 97% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 5 stars on RogerEbert.com.
