Even Henry James who wrote the original story in the late 19th century would say "What did you do to my story?" Told from a perspective of a teacher/nanny who may or may not be crazy at least that's what I gathered from watching the mixed up ending. The director didn't want to make a coherent movie but wanted to manipulate the audience and keep them guessing on what's going on. A little scary but the thinking was more what is going on with this woman and these 2 bratty kids? The best actor in the movie was the haunted house.
